Police in the U.K. are examining two missing persons cases for possible links to the discovery of an apparent murder victim on Queen Elizabeth's Sandringham country estate.

The remains, found Sunday by a dog-walker, are those of a white female believed to be between the ages of 15 and 23, according to a postmortem examination.

"We are at the very early stages of the investigation and it could be a complex inquiry," Detective Chief Inspector Jes Fry said at a news conference. "The circumstances suggest this is a murder case and we are looking at missing persons reports and cold cases both locally and nationwide."

Norfolk police detectives are reopening investigations into the disappearances last August of Alisa Dmitrijeva, 17, from Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, and Vitalija Baliutaviciene, 29, from Peterborough, ABC News reports.
