Ellie Kemper Is Engaged!

It looks like Ellie Kemper will need some Bridesmaids of her own.

The actress, 31, who starred in the hit comedy earlier this year, is engaged to Michael Koman, her boyfriend of a few years, she confirmed to Conan O'Brien on Conan Wednesday night.

"I want to mention something," O'Brien said to Kemper, who also has a supporting role on The Office as Erin Hannon. "It's sort of a big deal around this office. You got engaged."

"Yeah, I did!" Kemper answered excitedly about her fiancé, whom O'Brien describes as a "very talented writer who worked for me for many, many years."

"Michael's a delight, as you know, so of course [my parents] like him a lot," the actress said.

But when it comes to the rest of her family, Koman didn't get the official stamp of approval right away. A couple Thanksgivings ago, says Kemper, her grandfather grilled her on her beau.

When it was time for dessert, "There was a pumpkin pie and a pecan pie out, and my grandpa said, 'Ellie, what kind of pie are you gonna have?' " Kemper recalls.

"And I said, 'I don't know, grandpa. They both look really good. I think I'll have pecan.' He said, 'Are you sure, Ellie? Because it's okay to keep your options open. You don't have to settle on a pie right now,' " she recalls with a laugh. "I think Michael started to squirm!"
